The Coronation of King George V and Queen Mary:
Following on from the long reign of Queen Victoria, Edward VII was King of the United Kingdom and the British Dominions, and Emperor of India, from 22nd January 1901 until his death in 1910.

eorge V (who was made Prince of Wales when his father had become king) became Sovereign following the death of his father, King Edward VII, on Friday 6th May 1910.
More than a year later on 22nd June 1911, King George V and his consort, Queen Mary, were crowned at Westminster Abbey In London, England.
The guests for this regal occasion were all in place by 8:30am even though the service did not begin until 11.00am. King George V and Queen Mary travelled in the Gold State Coach, leaving Buckingham Palace at 10.30am, in a grandiose procession leading to Westminster Abbey. Following the Coronation ceremony the newly crowned King and Queen returned to Buckingham Palace, where they came out on the balcony several times througout the day.
Among the thousands of people watching the procession in London there were more than 50,000 troops who took part in the festivities, including marching in the procession and lining the route, clearly seen on the postcard.
There are numerous postcards depicting this important event in British history and they keep the memory alive to this day.
